February is Career and Technical Education Month®, or CTE Month®. It is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.
Career and technical education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE covers many different fields, including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, hospitality and management and many more.
There are posters in the hallways and some classrooms celebrating CTE Month.
Joe Ryan, from the South Carolina Attorney General Office, came to speak with students at the Career Center about Internet Safety. Students were enlightened on cyber bullying, social media, and laws that were in place in South Carolina that relate to Internet Safety.
Celebrating the Students
Chester County Career Center administrative staff passed out cupcakes to students during their break, showing the students how much we appreciate them, and applauding them for such a GREAT start to the school year.
Cosmetology Students Now Offering Services to the Public
Chester County Career Center’s cosmetology students are pleased to announce they have begun to offer services to the public for the 2016-2017 school year. The cosmetology students are currently offering their services to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., at the Career Center. This allows students an opportunity to receive valuable hands-on experience. Services include hair washing, roller sets, FREE haircuts, etc. These services are done by the students under direct supervision of the instructor, Connie Holsonback, who also earned her cosmetology license through the program at the Career Center. The prices for services are very affordable. Chester County Career Center’s cosmetology past completers have a 100% pass rate on their state board examinations.
For more information on services offered, or to make an appointment, contact Connie Holsonback at the Chester County Career Center by phone: (803) 377-1991 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
